Nike and up-scale retailer Notre partnered to host a revolutionary workshop where participants took on hands-on construction challenges, inspired by the Nike ISPA ethos (Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt) using upcycled materials. Both Nike and Notre wanted to generate authentic brand awareness and show their commitment to sustainability and DIY design.
Chairigami designed two cardboard workspaces, each pairing with a different phase in the hackathon. A collaboration studio, built by joining cardboard standing desks, inspired codesign and new approaches to shoe construction. A hacker space, constructed from several craft desks and paired cardboard stools, provided more intimate workspaces for groups to develop concept narratives and build prototypes. Over 100 millenials attended, together rethinking the future of shoes and packaging.
