We create planet-friendly
pop-up spaces to spark relationships.
I fell in love with cardboard when I was a kid, climbing and weaving through large refrigerator boxes. While working with the Adaptive Design Association, a wonderful non-profit that designs custom equipment for disabled children, I discovered how the art of cardboard carpentry could empower communities to prototype and build a more accessible world for those in need.
BUILDING A WORLD
Inspired by how forgiving and strong cardboard is, I created a flat-packing and modular furniture system for my college friends who were constantly on the move. In a small New Haven Storefront, I opened the first Chairigami store, part furniture lab and part cardboard atelier. Through codesign with the community and iterative prototyping, a simple cardboard furniture system grew into a complete line of furniture. Chairigami now creates mind-blowing pop-up environments, paving the way for a more planet-friendly future one cardboard chair at a time.
Cardboard furniture sets a clear intention when you enter a space - one that’s bold, creative, and environmentally conscious. Cardboard furniture encourages people to rethink how objects are made and what they are made from, instilling both curiosity and a green mindset. Like the boxes we all played in when we were children, cardboard is a blank slate that welcomes weird, wacky, and brilliant ideas.
